Many lives were lost during the Battle of the Camel, and yet despite A'ishah (radhiAllahu 'anha)'s defeat in the battle itself, she remained in Basra for some time - and immediately commenced teaching those around her.
One would think that in the fitnah-wrought aftermath of the battle, everyone around her would feel antagonistic towards her, and that she herself would be withdrawn.
Instead, she stayed in Basra and those who were both her supporters and her politic...all opponents flocked to her home to study from her. As a result, large numbers of women from Basra were recorded as her students.
