We are all
aware that Mr. Mandela spent nearly three decades in prison and was an icon of
reconciliation and forgiveness when we founded a democratic South Africa.
While he was a statesman of international renown and a symbol of our nation, it
was his dignity and humanity that served as a profound example to all people
everywhere inspiring them to follow his moral compass.
While we
mourn him and feel deeply saddened by our loss, it is also important to
celebrate his life and his sacrifices in the best way we can and to be inspired
by his humility and leadership.
