Dua'a for Laylat-ul-Qadr

Aisha Radhi Allahu Anha narrates : I asked : "O Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam, if I get to know which night Laylat-ul-Qadr is, what Dua'a should I make?" Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam replied:

"Say' Allaahumma innaka afoowun kareemun tuhibbul afwa fa'fu anni." (Tirmidhi)

اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّكَ عَفُوٌّ كَرِيمٌ تُحِبُّ الْعَفْوَ فَاعْفُ عَنِّى

Translation: O Allah! You are most forgiving and compassionate. You love to forgive, so forgive me.

The Muslim Ummah is truly indebted to Aisha Radhi Allahu Anha for posing this important question to Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam.

The Qura'an teaches us that worship on Laylat-ul-Qadr is equivalent to more than a thousand months of worship (about 83 years).

Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam has advised us to search for Laylat-ul-Qadr during the odd nights of the last ten nights of Ramadhaan. We should spend as much of these nights in Salaah, Dua'a, recitation of Qura'an and Zikrullaah.

Also try and give out some Lillah or Sadaqah. The bare minimum we should do is to ensure that we perform our Esha and Fajr Salaah on time.

Remember to seek forgiveness for oneself, ones parents, ones family, ones ustaads, the deceased and the entire Ummah of Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam.
